Bank Bailouts
When news of the $165 million bonus payments to AIG executives was made public, the WFP took action. Led by our CT affiliate, we participated in a bus tour of the homes of AIG executives called ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Shameless,’ and a demonstration outside the headquarters of AIG’s Financial Products Unit in Wilton, CT.
The media frenzy around ‘bailout bonus outrage’ reflects genuine concerns and feelings shared by a majority of Americans. At the same time, we need to struggle to break through the spin and sensationalism to put the focus where it rightly belongs – on the lives of people hit hard by the economic recession.
Watch the video above for a snapshot view of what really happened that day, and consider supporting our work with a donation to our affiliate, the Connecticut Working Families Party.
