Working Families

When the Swine Flu outbreak hit New York City, public health officials and even President Obama told us to stay home if we felt sick. But for the nearly one million New Yorkers who don’t have a single day of paid sick time where they work, staying home may not be an option.

Thompson has a clear message. He believes that city government must always put the middle class and working families first – above the real estate developers and corporate interests that have dominated our city for too long.

The Party’s City Council endorsements this year place a premium on organizers, activists and leaders who come directly from the communities they seek to represent, following in the footsteps of America’s Community Organizer-in-Chief, President Barack Obama.

The Working Families Party has endorsed Ydanis Rodriguez for New York City Council District 10, which spans Washington Heights, Inwood, and Marble Hill.

The WFP is proud to endorse Comptroller Bill Thompson for New York City Mayor.

The WFP is growing. Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski will sign a bill legalizing fusion voting – the WFP’s “secret weapon.” Oregon progressives are hard at work building a WFP of their own.
