Working Families Party endorses Sean Patrick Maloney in 18th Congressional District
Grassroots party Calls Maloney the Strongest Candidate to Defend Medicare from Radical Ryan Budget Plan
The Working Families Party officially endorsed Sean Patrick Maloney for the 18th Congressional District seat on Tuesday afternoon. Maloney will face off against Tea Party-backed freshman Congresswoman Nan Hayworth in November.
“In Congress, Sean Patrick Maloney will fight for the Hudson Valley’s working families,” said Joe Mayhew, a leader in the Working Families Party. “We’re backing him because we know he’ll have our backs in Washington.”
Maloney will appear on the Working Families Party ballot line in addition to the Democratic line in November.
“We know that support from the Working Families Party and Working Families voters will be pivotal in this election,” said Mayhew. “We couldn’t be more happy to support a great candidate like Sean and help send him to Washington where he can represent the people of the Hudson Valley. We urge anyone who wants to protect Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, support strong public schools, and limit the influence of money in politics to vote for Maloney on the Working Families Line.”
The Working Families Party is an independent, progressive party that fights for every day New Yorkers. WFP evaluates the records of all the candidates and supports only those who stand up for New York’s working families on issues like good jobs, affordable healthcare, fair taxes and quality schools.
