They’re back

24 Hours to Save our Water

Our State Senators are coming back to Albany tomorrow. But a moratorium on gas drilling still isn’t on their agenda.

This could be the last chance for New York State leaders to ban ‘hydrofracking’ and prevent the next drilling disaster from happening in our backyard. That means we have to seize the moment and expand our grassroots push for action.

We’ve already blown through the goal of 5,000 signers on our letter urging State Senators to pass a drilling ban — but we want to double that in the next 24 hours and then present a copy of the letter to every single State Senator the moment they return to Albany.

If you haven’t yet added your name to our letter, please do so now. If you have, please make sure that every New Yorker you know has signed, as well:

The Senate will have a packed agenda when it reconvenes tomorrow. (They still have to pass a state budget for this year.)

But we can’t let a moratorium on risky natural gas drilling slip through the cracks like it did last time. This issue is too important for the millions of New Yorkers who need to know their drinking water is clean and safe, not threatened by a drilling process that the EPA hasn’t even finished evaluating yet.

You can be sure that the drilling lobbyists will be in Albany on Wednesday, threatening to spend millions in corporate cash this election year to defeat Senators who are brave enough to back a drilling ban.

The only thing that can counter those threats is our grassroots pressure. Please help us reach 10,000 signers on our letter in the next 24 hours, and we’ll make sure every State Senator gets a copy with every single signer’s name attached.

Give them no choice but to listen. Just go here:

Thanks!
