E-Z Pass Workers Fight for Their Rights

cwa-ezpass_1-10Countless New Yorkers rely on E-Z Pass to make their lives, um, E-Zier. But a private company contracted to run the program for New York State is making the lives of its workers harder.

In 2009, hundreds of workers at an E-Z Pass customer service call center in Staten Island voted to form a union. But the Texas-based outsourcing company that runs the center (Affiliated Computer Services) pushed back. Even after the National Labor Relations Board overruled ACS’ objections and certified the union vote, ACS still refuses to recognize the union or come to the negotiating table.
