New Subway Ad Makes Case for Paid Sick Days

New Subway Paid Sick Days Ad

A new ad from the Paid Sick Days coalition is hitting a subway car near you this week, highlighting the health risk to schoolchildren from the staggering number of parents who lack paid sick time where they work.

According to a recent report from the Community Service Society and A Better Balance, 54% of New York City’s public school parents can’t take a paid day off work when they get sick.  Not surprisingly, 27% of low-income parents report sending a sick child to school.

The ad makes a basic point:  going without paid sick time is hard enough on working families, but it’s also a real threat to the public health.
