82% of respondents to a Daily News online poll launched on Friday support requiring employers to offer paid sick leave, as a City Council bill supported by the Working Families Party proposes.
That super-majority is in line with a nationwide poll conducted last year by the University of Chicago’s National Opinion Research Center, which showed that 86% of Americans believe that employers should be required by law to provide paid sick days to workers.
The Daily News poll accompanied a write-up of Make the Road New York’s march and rally for paid sick days last Thursday. Joining the crowd were 4 of the WFP’s successful insurgent candidates. The bill currently has 38 co-sponsors on the council.
