In another daring escapade, elite protestors with signs reading ‘taxes are for little people’ gathered outside CT Gov. Jodi Rell’s mansion to demand budget cuts and lower taxes, no matter the cost to working families.
Hartford (WTNH) – State legislators resumed closed-door negotiations on a new state budget, but they had some company.
Protestors that claim the proposed budget puts the squeeze on the poor and the middle class, and doesn’t tax the richest in the state. It was another round of budget talks and another day of political theater. ‘Billionaires for Budget Cuts,’ otherwise known as Connecticut Working Families, left a thank you card for Governor Rell.
The card thanked her for “defending billionaires and taxing the little people.” Just last week, Rell opened the door to some tax increases. Rep. Chris Donovan (D-Speaker of the House) says he’s hopeful and mindful of the September 1st deadline. That’s when the state’s rainy day fund will lose $942-million to cover the 2009 deficit.
This is the second Billionaires protest orchestrated by CT Working Families. We wish Rich N. Luvenit and Iona Lottabotes all the best while hoping they fail to protect the ultra-wealthy from slightly higher taxes.
