We Love This Landlord!

This is the text of an email we received over the holiday weekend. It’s a response to our successful spoof email from Charles “Landlord” Lenchner calling on folks to fight the WFP’s efforts to support affordable housing. It’s great! Thank you AK for writing this:

I am not quite sure how I have ended up on this email list, as my position is surely NOT to support you big money hoarders. I hope you are greatly appreciative of your house in the Hamptons as you should consider yourself lucky to have the extra income for such indulgences.  I myself find it to be a rather selfish and unnecessary way to spend money, but that is purely my opinion.
I in fact do own a condo in New York and currently have it rented out while I travel around the world, something I am very grateful to be doing with the money I have worked very hard to earn and save.  Not to be confused with the asinine profits you feel I deserve to be making from my condo.  I feel the rent I am receiving is proportionate to my property, it covers my mortgage, maintenance and taxes, and I do not intend to “jack that up” as you say for my personal and self centered benefit at anyone’s expense.

It is unfortunate to see that there clearly are so many like you out there who feel the world is yours for the taking and that you for some reason deserve to have your cake and eat it too then wash it down with a bottle of champagne!  I wish you all the best in your campaign and hope you can one day see our country as a more equal place to live – I assure you if any tragedy were to fall upon you and you were not in such a lofty position you would hope for your rights to have a roof over your head and for an extended hand to help you out.  We’re all in this together you know.

And yes, I will indeed pass this along to the hundreds of people I know who rent in New York so they can sign the “whiny petition” and stand up for their rights to maintain a standard of living.

Cheers,
AK
