Many of us struggled long and hard this spring to halt the hike and reverse the draconian fare hikes and service cuts that almost happened.
A coalition formed that included NYPIRG’s Straphanger’s Campaign, the Campaign for New York’s Future, Transportation Alternatives, the Regional Transit Association, and of course the 75k+ Facebook group that formed around this issue. (And of course the WFP!)
We’re meeting on Thursday evening at 8:30pm at The Beekman (15 Beekman St. – click for a map). Drink specials until 9:30pm, courtesy of the WFP. Amir Darvish (of the Facebook group) will be coming, along with other Facebook friends and other interested parties.
I can’t wait to meet some of the folks who helped make this victory possible, and maybe ask some of the troubling questions: how much of a victory was this? How long before the next ‘crisis’ that needs us to jump back in the fight? And how do we divvy up the cheers and jeers among the politicians in Albany?
