The Working Families Party endorsed Manhattan district attorney candidate Richard Aborn on Wednesday night, giving him the party’s progressive stamp of approval and its aggressive get-out-the-vote operation.

“Richard Aborn has a vision of a progressive, proactive DA – one who works to keep guns off the streets, gives at-risk youth alternatives to crime, and treats drug addiction as a public health problem by helping addicts get clean,” said Dan Cantor, the party’s executive director.

Aborn campaign manager Michael Rabinowitz called the party’s endorsement a “turning point” in the campaign.

“With the overwhelming majority of Democratic leaders, activists and now the Working Families Party uniting behind Richard Aborn, Manhattan progressives appear to have found their candidate for DA,” Rabinowitz said.

Aborn’s two Democratic rivals, Leslie Crocker Snyder and Cy Vance Jr., and the race’s lone Republican contender, Greg Camp, all sought the party’s endorsement, officials said.

Stay tuned for ways you can help Aborn’s campaign.
